Dried insects, fed on their own rather than mixed into seed. This is the thing that brings in birds that largely ignore a seed feeder — bluebirds above all, plus wrens, robins, and warblers. Insect protein matters most through nesting season, when adults are feeding young and need protein rather than oil.
- Straight dried insects — no seed filler to pick through
- Attracts bluebirds, wrens, robins, chickadees, and other insect eaters
- Highest value during spring and summer nesting season
- Offer in a dish, platform feeder, or dedicated bluebird feeder
- 16 oz
Put out a small amount at a time in an open dish and keep it dry. Some birds take them more readily after a brief soak in warm water, which is worth trying if a new feeder is being ignored.
